Florida regional Future City Competition is a National Engineers Week educational program for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students to help interest in math, science and engineering through hands-on experience. This is a school-based competition for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in public, private, parochial, and home schools. Students imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future that showcase their solution to a citywide sustainability issue.

This year’s theme is The Age-Friendly City. Teams will identify an age-related challenge that exists in today's urban environments and engineer two innovative solutions that allow their future city's senior citizens to be as active and independent as they want to be.

Future City is one of the nation’s leading engineering education programs and has received national recognition and acclaim for its role in encouraging middle schoolers to develop their interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
